Even More Visitors

Veta really loves Allison.
Bear in mind that Ricky has pretty big hands so this hail is even bigger than it looks here.
The fire pit has been getting a lot of use. Ricky’s friend James visited tonight from College Station.

An unfortunate complication resulted in the cancelling of a long-planned vacation for Ricky and Allison, so they came to Tedderhaven instead. They have seen the sights–the glass bottom boat, the hydro-electric plant, downtown Austin, Riverwalk, the Devil’s Backbone, and tubing the Guadalupe. Ricky has been working on organizing and culling the combustible materials in the yard, and we have all been refining our hot-dog cooking techniques. It’s been a good week and I’m glad they’re here for another few days.

Canyon Lake Shrimpfest

It was a pretty good deal–$12 for a generous pile o’ shrimp, delicious cole slaw, and very good potato salad, plus drink. Dessert was a dollar, and I had some very yummy carrot cake. The parking lot of the community center was overflowing, and there was a steady stream of customers. Also, live music!

Now we are getting ready for the Kentucky Derby. I have two dollars on Captain Von Trapp, for some reason.

Compass

On the last day of her visit, Ada drew a compass rose around the fire pit, and found the direction of New Braunfels definitively. Sadly, the chalk is very hard to see against the flagstones, but we have also determined that the fire pit is pretty closely aligned to the cardinal directions, so it’s relatively easy to use as a compass. I look forward to the New Braunfels argument continuing even in the presence of actual map information 🙂

Ada, Kyle, Jon and Kyle’s friend Kyle visited. (And Labrador Trestle.)

Ada made the fire and then reaped the benefit.
