Two Lakes

On the right is Canyon Lake. On the left is Lake Livingston, which I flew over yesterday en route to San Antonio. I kept looking for Tedderhaven and thinking, “Is it that house, or maybe it’s that one!”

There’s a certain characteristic to all these reservoirs, but these two are incredibly similar. No wonder you were so sure! And no wonder I couldn’t find your flight from down here on the ground.

One of my favorite pasttimes is to sit outside armed with binoculars and FlightAware, which IDs the flight number, altitude, speed, origin, destination, and type of aircraft. It’s somehow thrilling to identify a plane six miles up, and to know where all those people came from and where they’re headed. (34TS marks Canyon Lake Airport, which is at the north end of the lake not far from Tedderhaven.)
